About Savings Chart

A small, focused budgeting tool built around one simple idea: a picture of your money is worth a thousand spreadsheet rows.

Why this exists

Every personal-finance app on the market wants to be everything at once — a bank, an investment platform, a coaching service, a marketplace for credit cards. The result is bloated dashboards, surprise upsells, and the same root question still unanswered: where, exactly, is my money going?

Savings Chart strips that down to a single, honest visualization. You enter the numbers you actually have. The tool draws a Sankey diagram showing income flowing in, getting allocated, and flowing back out as expenses. The width of every band tells you, in one glance, how much of your paycheque is going to rent versus food versus savings versus everything else.

That's it. No accounts to link. No banking credentials to share. No "premium tier" gating the basic features. Just a clean chart that helps you see your own money clearly.

Who it's for

What we believe

Your data is yours

Stored on a private server we run. Never sold. Never used for ads. Deletable anytime.

Free should mean free

The core tool stays free. If we add paid extras later, they'll be optional and clearly marked.

Simple beats clever

One thing, done well. We'd rather refuse a feature than make the tool harder to use.

How it's built

Savings Chart is a small Node.js app running on a Linux server in Canada, fronted by Cloudflare for performance and security. Charts are drawn with D3.js. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt; sign-in uses a 6-digit code sent to your email through Resend. There's no analytics tracker following you around, no third-party scripts that aren't strictly needed for the page to work.

What's next

Recent additions include the per-month calendar view (each month gets its own chart), multi-currency formatting, and a job-search tracking template. On the short list:
